How to prepare your team to work with AI agents
Adopting agents isn't a technical project: it's a change in how you work. Four steps to help your team use them confidently from the very first week.
Most businesses that fail with AI don't fail because of the model, but because of adoption. The team doesn't know what to ask for, doesn't trust the results or worries the agent will do something it shouldn't.
Start with read-only
For the first few weeks, limit agents to looking things up and summarising. That way the team discovers which questions work, with no risk to the data.
Decide who is accountable for each agent
Every agent needs an owner: someone who decides its role, reviews its log and adjusts its permissions. Without that person, agents end up belonging to no one.
An agent without an owner is like a shared account: it works fine until the day something goes wrong.
Write down the house rules
- Which clients are a priority, and why.
- When to follow up, and in what tone.
- Which decisions an agent never makes without review.
Review the log every week
Fifteen minutes a week reviewing what each agent has done is enough to spot misuse, adjust permissions and, above all, build trust.
